Hon’ble Minister of Uttar Pradesh Reviews Progress of Major Dhyan Chand Sports University, Meerut
The Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge), Department of Sports and Youth Welfare, Government of Uttar Pradesh, Girish Chandra Yadav, visited and inspected the under-construction campus of Major Dhyan Chand Sports University at Salawa on April 10, 2026.

During the inspection, Secretary (Sports) Suhas L.Y., Vice-Chancellor Major General Deep Ahlawat (Retd.), Chief Engineer (PMJSY), Registrar Sunil Kumar Jha, Executive Engineer (Public Works Department), Joint Director (Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Division, State Planning Institute), Managing Director of the executing agency Deepanshu Motors (Jharkhand), Sanjay Singh, and other concerned officials were present.
At the beginning of the program, the Vice-Chancellor, Major General Deep Ahlawat, welcomed the Hon’ble Minister. Thereafter, the Minister conducted a detailed site inspection of the entire campus and visited various under-construction units. During the visit, he inspected the Administrative Building, Girls’ Hostel, flats of Triple-Seater Type-3 Housing, the Health Center, and other facilities.
The Hon’ble Minister also reviewed the drainage construction work with perforated pipes in Pocket-2, aimed at addressing the seepage issue from the Ganga Canal. Additionally, he suggested certain modifications in the Indoor Complex building. He closely examined the quality of work, adherence to timelines, and utilization of resources, and sought necessary information from the concerned officials.
Subsequently, the Vice-Chancellor delivered a detailed presentation on the progress, quality, and achievements of the construction work so far. The presentation also highlighted the administrative and academic achievements of the university.
The Hon’ble Minister emphasized the need to complete the construction work within the stipulated timeline, i.e., by May 31, 2026. He directed officials to immediately increase the number of workers, accelerate the pace of work by operating in two shifts, and maintain high standards of quality.
He further instructed that regular and effective monitoring of each stage of the project should be ensured so that the construction work is completed in a timely and efficient manner. He stated that the university will play a significant role in nurturing sports talent in the state and will contribute to giving Uttar Pradesh a new identity in the field of sports.
