Hon’ble Chancellor of the State Universities of Uttar Pradesh and Hon’ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Smt. Anandiben Patel<\/strong>, paid a comprehensive visit to Major Dhyan Chand Sports University, Meerut<\/strong>, to review the progress of the University’s academic, residential, administrative, and sports infrastructure. During the visit, she closely assessed the ongoing developmental works and provided a series of significant directions aimed at establishing the University among the country’s leading institutions dedicated to sports education, sports science, and athlete development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hon’ble Governor undertook a detailed inspection of the University’s construction progress, academic environment, student facilities, and sports infrastructure. She emphasized the importance of maintaining the highest standards of quality, excellence, and timely execution across all developmental initiatives to ensure the University evolves into a world-class centre of excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hon’ble Governor arrived on the University campus at approximately 12:00 PM<\/strong> and was warmly welcomed by Vice-Chancellor Maj. Gen. Deep Ahlawat, VSM (Retd.)<\/strong>, who presented her with a bouquet. The visit was attended by Shri Ashok Desai<\/strong>, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Hon’ble Governor; Major Garima Yadav<\/strong>, ADC; Shri Sunil Kumar Jha<\/strong>, Registrar; Shri Pankaj Chaturvedi<\/strong>, Finance Officer; Dr. Vijay Kumar Singh, IAS<\/strong>, District Magistrate, Meerut; Shri Avinash Pandey, IPS<\/strong>, Senior Superintendent of Police, Meerut; Shri Kumar Vineet, IAS<\/strong>, Special Secretary, Department of Sports; Shri Avdhesh Sharan Chaurasia<\/strong>, Chief Engineer, Public Works Department; Shri Mohammad Arif<\/strong>, Executive Engineer (Civil); Shri Deepak Agrawal<\/strong>, Executive Engineer (Electrical); University Guest Faculty Dr. Farha Hashmi<\/strong> and Shri Siddharth Sagare<\/strong>, along with senior officials from the University and district administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the welcome ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Maj. Gen. Deep Ahlawat, VSM (Retd.)<\/strong> delivered a comprehensive presentation outlining the University’s progress and future development plans. He highlighted the University’s vision, ongoing academic activities, construction status, development of sports infrastructure, proposed academic programmes, sports science and research facilities, national and international collaborations, and the institution’s long-term roadmap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Vice-Chancellor emphasized that the University’s objective extends beyond producing elite athletes. It aspires to become a national centre of excellence in sports science, sports medicine, sports management, sports technology, sports research, and high-performance training<\/strong>, thereby contributing significantly to India’s sporting ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the conclusion of the presentation, the Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of the University fraternity, presented a memento to the Hon’ble Governor as a token of gratitude and respect. Appreciating the University’s progress, the Hon’ble Governor observed that Major Dhyan Chand Sports University possesses the potential to open new avenues in sports education and sports science in Uttar Pradesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the review meeting, the Hon’ble Governor examined the University’s modern teaching resources, smart classrooms, experimental learning systems, and the evolving academic ecosystem. She remarked that the true identity of the University would be shaped by successfully integrating quality education, research, and sports training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reviewing the University’s Health Centre, she stressed the need to further strengthen modern medical facilities for athletes by enhancing sports medicine, physiotherapy, rehabilitation services, and emergency medical care<\/strong>, ensuring that scientific healthcare support is available within the campus itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hon’ble Governor also reviewed the arrangements of the University’s common mess and advised that students be provided with hygienic, nutritious, and high-quality meals. She emphasized that balanced nutrition, aligned with the health and performance requirements of athletes, is essential in a sports university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highlighting the importance of effective institutional communication, she directed the University to promote regular interaction and coordination among students, Deans, faculty members, and the administration to foster a healthy, positive, and inspiring academic environment while ensuring continuous academic and personal mentoring for students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Special emphasis was laid on developing high-quality facilities in both boys’ and girls’ hostels. The Hon’ble Governor directed that cleanliness, lighting, drinking water, security, recreational amenities, and study facilities be strengthened to provide students with a safe and comfortable residential environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She further advised the University to develop the campus as an eco-friendly and energy-efficient Green Campus<\/strong> by installing solar panels and maximizing the use of renewable energy sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the nationwide campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”<\/strong>, the Hon’ble Governor encouraged large-scale plantation across the University campus to create a vibrant and sustainable green environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She also stressed the importance of launching Talent Identification Programmes<\/strong> in schools across the State to identify promising young athletes, particularly from rural and remote regions, and connect them with the University’s academic and sports programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hon’ble Governor directed that environmental sustainability should become an integral part of the University’s institutional culture through water conservation, wastewater recycling, energy efficiency, campus cleanliness, and environmental protection initiatives<\/strong>. She also emphasized strengthening collaborations with national and international institutions to establish Major Dhyan Chand Sports University as a globally recognized centre of excellence in sports education and sports science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subsequently, the Hon’ble Governor conducted a detailed inspection of the Administrative Building, reviewing various offices and administrative systems. She underscored the importance of transparency, efficiency, and digital governance in administrative functioning and directed that all services for students, parents, and other stakeholders should be delivered in a simple, accessible, and time-bound manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During her visit to the Girls’ Hostel<\/strong>, the Hon’ble Governor reviewed residential facilities, security arrangements, sanitation, drinking water, lighting, healthcare provisions, and other student amenities. She instructed that the laundry facility should be relocated from inside individual rooms to a covered external area to optimize room utilization and improve drainage management. She further directed that the hostel should provide a safe, dignified, and motivating environment, with every facility developed in accordance with national standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expressing confidence in the University’s future, the Hon’ble Governor stated that Major Dhyan Chand Sports University has the potential to emerge as one of India’s finest sports universities and play a transformative role in elevating Uttar Pradesh’s position in sports excellence. The visit of the Hon’ble Chancellor proved to be highly significant and inspirational for the University’s future development. The visionary guidance and strategic directions provided by the Hon’ble Governor are expected to accelerate the University’s developmental roadmap and further strengthen its journey towards becoming a globally recognized centre for sports education, sports science, research, innovation, and world-class sports infrastructure<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
